Hands off our data!

Why we believe your data should actually be yours

Most business platforms don’t let you own your data. You think you do, but try leaving one of those platforms and taking everything with you. It’s hard. Sometimes impossible.

That’s by design. They want to make it difficult to leave.

We’re building appt in differently. Your customer details, your bookings, your payment history – it’s all yours. You can export it anytime. You can delete it anytime. No tricks. No small print that stops you.

We encrypt your data so only you can see it. We follow UK data protection rules. We’ll tell you exactly what that means in normal English, not legal language.

Here’s our thinking: if appt in is useful, you’ll stay because it helps you. If it’s not for you, you should be able to leave easily. Trapping you with your own data isn’t fair. We won’t do it.

Why data ownership matters

When you run a business, you collect information. Customer names, phone numbers, addresses, payment details, appointment history. This is valuable stuff. It’s your business relationships in data form.

But on most platforms, this information sits in their system. Sure, you can see it and use it. But can you take it with you if you leave? Can you actually control who sees what? Can you delete it all if a customer asks you to?

Often, the answer is no. Or it’s yes-but-with-difficulties. You might get a messy export that doesn’t work properly. You might lose important details. You might find that actually, you didn’t own it as much as you thought.

This isn’t just annoying. It’s unfair. It’s your business. Your customers. Your relationships. You should control the data.

What we do differently

With appt in, we handle all the legal data stuff so you don’t have to worry about it. We’re the data controllers under UK GDPR rules. That means we deal with the legal side, but you control your information. Businesses do get fined for GDPR breaches, and many try to get around the rules by using WhatsApp – but it doesn’t give customers the protection they need.

Your customer data doesn’t get shared outside the app. Phone numbers and email addresses are protected. Everything is encrypted and secure.

And here’s the important bit: we don’t hold your data hostage. You want to leave? Fine. Export everything. It’s yours.

We even take care of things like the £60 ICO fee that businesses normally have to pay. If you manage all your data through appt in, you don’t need to pay it. That’s £60 saved straight away.

Building trust through transparency

A lot of people worry about data sharing. About 70% of people, actually. They’re concerned about who has their information and what’s being done with it.

We get it. That’s why we’re building appt in to be transparent. You know where your data is. You know who can see it. You know you can delete it anytime.

Your customers will trust you more when they know their information is secure. When they know you’re not sharing their phone number or email with anyone else. When they can update or delete their details whenever they want.

Yes, this makes our lives harder. But we’re building this for people like us – small business owners who are tired of platforms that own everything.

Your business. Your customers. Your data. That’s how it should be.

We’re launching early 2026. If you agree that you should own your business data, sign up at apptin.app.
